Il Cucchetto
Tuscan Maremma.
Fattoria il Casalone. Orbetello Scalo, Grosseto.
Cabernet Sauvignon 85%, Petit Verdot 15%
Hand harvested in mid-late September.
The must is vinified for 10 days. After racking, the wine matures in French oak barrels for over 18 months. Refinement occurs in the bottle for a further 6 months.
Brilliant ruby dress. Notes of wild berries, light vegetable brushstrokes, dark spices and mentholated tobacco make up a variegated bouquet, which is matched by a solid and satisfying sip, with a gentle tannic mass. Long persistence on the tongue.
Bordeaux bottle. Boxes of 6 bottles.
Limited production of 6,000 bottles.
Bottle format: 0.75 l and Magnum.
Serve at 16-18 ° C.
It goes well with first courses with important sauces of the Italian tradition, with game, roasts, grilled meat and truffle preparations.
i VITIGNI
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widespread red grape variety in the world whose powerful
tannic structure can give life to extremely complex and long-lived wines.
Petit Verdot is a black grape variety originating from the Médoc area in France,
due to its rebellious nature it is rarely vinified alone.
With little cultivation in the world, it is a vine that expresses its best in Maremma,
where late ripening is capable of producing wines rich in colour, spicy, tannic and well concentrated.

“Great wine, the best, Il Cucchetto Cabernet Sauvignon Doc Maremma Toscana 2021: a Bordeaux blend that for density-softness and clarity is to be envied by many Gran Cru.” - 2024 - Jancis Robinson's Ratings - JR
lL CUCCHETTO DOC Vintage 2018 - Tasting date January 19th, 2024 - Reviewer Tamlyn Currin - Score 16.5/20
“Chocolatey dark fruit, white pepper, black-satin tannins. It tastes as if it's been made with the whole purpose of seduction but it's not heavy or jammy. It's fresh with a delicious twist of olive-leaf and laurel leaf-and-spice sweet-bitterness. Very definitely a Tuscan Cabernet. It will age for a bit, but I'd drink it now for the plump lavishness of that
unashamedly ripe, delicious fruit.“ - 2023 - Yearbook of the Best Wines 2024 - Luca Maroni

“This great wine is firmly among the most mellow and richest pure Italian Cabernet Sauvignon. Its extract, which dresses it in an impenetrable black, has gustatory and tactile reverberations of majestic power, a phenomenal aromatic persistence. Its tannin is powerful, the oenological execution is clear, which makes the brocaded mantle of its cassis of uncommon elegance.“ - 2022 - Yearbook of the Best Wines 2023 - Luca Maroni

“Il CUCCHETTO 2015: one of the most wonderfully concentrated reds of Italian nature. A sea of blackberry and violet that renders the heart of the pulp of its very black grape in the distilled essence. Chapeau.“ - 2017 - Mundus Vini - The Grand International Wine Award

The Best Wine: 2012 lL CUCCHETTO
"Heartfelt congratulations to Pepi Lignana - Fattoria Il Casalone who gives us two absolute champions of international value. A sample of rare value is the 2012 IL CUCCHETTO, actually red black and purple with its mellow blackberry compote in persuasive and balsamic spice. A wine that shows off harmonious softness as well as splendid enology. Chapeau.“
