The first edition of the “Gustatus - The Sense of Taste” event was born in 2006, by the will of the local entrepreneurs of the Welcome Maremma Consortium and in collaboration with the Municipality of Orbetello, in order to promote the excellence and traditions of a territory so varied that it embraces sea, land and hills.
Now as then the main protagonists of the 19th edition of Gustatus have been the Wine and Gastronomy of the territory. Raw materials and local traditions have given life to a sensory journey through the flavors, scents and colors of the Tuscan Maremma.
This year's novelty: "the Orbetello Wine Show".
This year for the first time at the suggestive "Ex Frontone" hall in Piazza della Repubblica
it was dedicated exclusively to local companies that stand out in the wine sector.
The Gustatus glass is the symbol of the event that also through the participation of recognized sommeliers proposes a responsible wine culture, with guided tastings to learn to enjoy the grape nectar also with sight and smell, in addition to knowledge of the land and the different vines.
During Gustatus professionals, visitors and wine enthusiasts were able to taste the wines of the area, interact with the producers and participate in Masterclasses and Blind Tastings.

Local Producers and Starred Chefs
The event was attended by the best local producers and professionals in the agri-food sector.
Show Cooking, Tastings and Talk Shows with Starred Chefs and television personalities offered unique gastronomic experiences. Tastings of local cold cuts and cheeses together with first courses and “ciaccini”, in the refinement of the Gustatus Restaurant, where the best chefs in the area took turns every evening offering refined menus.
Also particularly appreciated were the insights into Maremma's Olive Oil , land of olive groves and right at the height of the harvest, with demonstrations and details of the pressing of olives in the area.
